How does a private family matter turn into a public spectacle and splash across newspapers and television all over the world?
Well the recipe starts with one unstable control freak, state trooper that happens to be going through a custody battle with your sister. Add in a great deal of emotion, stir in family, add a lawyer or two and put it under some heat, more heat. And before you know it, a divorce and custody battle turn into threats and sometimes violence.
In Sarah Palin’s case luckily it did not descend into violence but threats were made against her sister and her father.
Besides Mike Wooten, the ex brother-n law, is racist. Todd Palin’s ancestry includes proudly Yup’ik Eskimo, Native Alaskan Tribe, but was often harassed by Wooten. Racisms not only practiced against blacks but Native Americans, Oriental and others of color. Racist do not belong in law enforcement. And Wooten apparently has a problem with women, Sarah’s sister was Wooten’s third wife, he now has 4 ex-wives.
Take a close loving protective extended family, the Palin Family, concerned friends and staff members, who are concerned about the safety of Sarah’s sister and father making appeals for their protection.
Ad did I mention Wooten is a state trooper in Alaska, law enforcement good ‘ole boys network that protect their own no matter what.
All this happened before Sarah ran for governor.
When Sarah became Governor of Alaska she hired Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan. When it became clear that there were policy differences with Mr. Monegan, she asked for his resignation.
Monegan admits publicly that Sarah never asked him to fire Wooten.
Add in partisan bickering, stir and bake.
Flopping Aces has links to the testimony and timeline to the above events.
Having lived throug similar events, not in the international news thank you very much, I can identify. When my sister finally left her abusive husband and filed for divorced, he threatened her and her entire family with violent acts. He broke into our home held a gun to the baby’s head and rapped my sister. The sob never spent a minute in jail. The good ‘ole boys network protected him.
In those days women were the “propety” of men. Times are a changin.
Now we have a woman running for Vice President of the USA.
We have come a long way, with a long way to go.
